THE NIKE+ HUMAN RACE:

The World’s Largest One Day Running Event

Nike’s 1st global event took place on a single day, across 25 cities, featured over 30 top musical acts, and attracted nearly 1 million runners. The event offered participants across the globe the chance to run and compete in an unprecedented race experience. Spanning multiple continents, cities included LA, New York, Austin, London, Madrid, Paris, Istanbul, Melbourne, Shanghai, São Paulo, and Vancouver among many others.

This was made possible by a unique platform destination that allowed everyone to create their own journey.

Nikeplus.com was the official destination for the Nike+ Human Race and for all pre-race training needs. Here, runners created personal profile pages and stayed motivated with original training music mixes. Runners were also able to visit race city pages covering local race info and news, training pages for information and links to in-city training runs, and events with official race partners including 24Hour Fitness, Starbucks, and Nike+ Coach training & content. On-the-ground runner support was supplied, along with parking, shuttle & ferry boat rides to the events themselves.

Following races in each city, participants were treated to Exclusive Concerts featuring artists such as Kanye West, Moby, Ben Harper, and Fall Out Boy. Participants selected a cause as a portion of funds raised were donated to three Nike+ Human Race beneficiaries: WWF, the global conservation organization, Lance Armstrong Foundation, and UNRefugee Agency’s ninemillion.org campaign.

Finally, a hard-cover book, The Day the World Stopped to Run, was created in real-time as the race was run, customizable to each participant, and finalized within 10 days of the race itself.
